LAMA
The ability and authority to teach yourself

LAMA is an approach to dance that choreographer Edan Gorlicki created during his years developing his choreographic voice at Random Collision in Groningen, the Netherlands.

The basic interest for Edan to create LAMA arose from the desire to understand the relationship between movement and presence. Interestingly, the source of this study came from working with non-professional dancers, which led Edan to discover movement from a more natural approach and implement it into the “dancer’s” mind and body.

The workshop itself focuses mainly on presence, body awareness, and studying personal qualities, and at the same time building stamina, form and control.

Besides studying the body from a non-dancers perspective, LAMA is very much inspired by GAGA, Cunningham technique, Fascia Therapy and mainly by common sense.
